I come from humble beginnings. In 1979, my parents gave me a guitar and my brother Rickey began learning how to play drums. Our parents couldn’t afford music lessons, so we listened to 8 track tapes everyday after school and played along with the songs. I couldn’t afford guitar picks, so I would tear my notebook paper into small pieces in order to make guitar picks. My brother and I would go out in the backyard in order to break branches and limbs off trees because our parents couldn’t afford to buy drumsticks.
